Your surgeon may also:

• Evaluate your general health status and any pre-existing health conditions or risk factors
• Examine your breasts, and may take detailed measurements of their size and shape, skin quality, placement of your nipples and areolas
• Take photographs for your medical record
• Discuss your options and recommend a course of treatment
• Discuss likely outcomes of your breast reduction procedure and any risks or potential complications

Insurance Coverage

Breast Reduction surgery may be considered medically necessary by insurance companies, if the weight of the breasts causes other chronic medical conditions such as: back pain and scoliosis. Often times, surgery is not the first option for such potential candidates. Insurance carriers request that conservative therapy for back pain, use of NSAIDS, and physical therapy often be used first. Insurance companies will require a complete medical history as well as a complete evaluation from Dr. Ashruf prior to authorizing a patient for surgery.
